The 2025–26 season is the 114th season in the history of Newport County Association Football Club and their thirteenth consecutive season in EFL League Two. In addition to the league, the club will also participate in the FA Cup, the EFL Cup, and the EFL Trophy. Prior to the season starting, David Hughes was appointed as the club's new manager on a two-year contract. Pre-season and friendlies. On 28 May, Newport County announced their first pre-season friendly, against Weston-super-Mare. Five days later a second fixture was confirmed against Worcester City. A third was shortly added after, against Torquay United. A fortnight later, a further two friendlies were added against Pontypridd United and Bristol City. Competitions. EFL Cup. Newport County will take part in a Preliminary Round of the EFL Cup due to the number of Premier League teams being involved in European competitions. They will face Barnet with the home team and fixture date to be confirmed on 26 June 2025. EFL Trophy. In the group stage, Newport were drawn into Southern Group A alongside Cardiff City, Exeter City and Arsenal Under 21's. Statistics.
