The Samsung Galaxy A16 and Samsung Galaxy A16 5G are Android mid-range smartphones developed by Samsung in 2024. Being announced on October 7, 2024, it was released in Europe on October 25. It was only made available in the United States after three months, in January 2025. It has 4GB, 6GB, and 8GB RAM options along with 128GB/256GB storage options. It is set to receive six generation updates in a span of six years, eventually ceasing to receive updates in October 2030. The phone is part of the Galaxy A series. Specifications. Hardware. The Galaxy A16 has a 50MP wide back camera, 5MP ultrawide back camera and 2MP macro back camera and 13MP front camera. The 4G variant of the A16 comes with the MediaTek Helio G99 system-on-chip as with the previous model, while the 5G variants sport either a MediaTek Dimensity 6300 or Samsung's own Exynos 1330 system-on-chip depending on the region. The Galaxy A16 and the A16 5G initially came with Android 14 and One UI 6.1. It can receive upgrades up to six android operating systems, lasting until October 2030. Reception. Sales. According to Counterpoint Research, the Samsung Galaxy A16 5G was the world's best selling Android smartphone in Q1 2025. Counterpoint says it saw a 17% increase in sales over the Galaxy A15 5G from the year before.
