Richard Dowling is an Australian politician who was elected as a Senator for Tasmania at the 2025 federal election, representing the Australian Labor Party. He was preselected as the second member on Labor's Senate ticket in Tasmania, following the resignation of Catryna Bilyk. His six-year term began on 1 July 2025. In the 2025 Senate election, he was the second on the party list behind Carol Brown. Dowling grew up on Hobart's eastern shore where his parents worked in the seafood industry. Dowling was an economist in the Tasmanian Treasury before moving to work for the state government between 2010 and 2014. He more recently worked for Meta Platforms.
