On 3 October 2024, six armed men raided a Safeguard Security Services vehicle parked outside Ecobank's Parkade Centre branch in Bulawayo. The theft was valued at US$45 million, making it one of the largest bank robberies in Zimbabwe.
Six suspects have been named, and Zimbabwe Republic Police have contacted Interpol for assistance, claiming the offenders might be based in South Africa.
