History.
Diepsloot Mall was developed by Masingita Property Investment Holdings (MPIH), a joint venture between Khulemani Masingita Properties and Nedbank Corporate. Construction commenced in June 2006 and was completed within budget, opening to the public in November 2007. The mall was designed to meet the specific retail needs of the Diepsloot community, offering a variety of stores and services.
Design and features.
The mall features approximately 11,304 square metres of retail space and houses around 50 stores, with 65% being national tenants. It includes anchor stores such as Shoprite and Boxer, as well as a variety of other retailers including Roots Butchery, Clicks, Pep, Ackermans, Dunns, Sportscene, Sneaker Factory, Pep Cell, Jet Cell, African Bank, Standard Bank, Nedbank, Absa Bank, Capitec Bank, Rage, and Clothing Junction. Additionally, the development includes a taxi rank accommodating 22 taxis and parking for 437 vehicles.
Community impact.
In October 2015, Unjani Clinic opened within Diepsloot Mall, providing accessible primary healthcare services to the community. The clinic exceeded expectations, with 578 patient visits in its second month of operation, demonstrating the mall's role in addressing local healthcare needs.
