This article is a list of the filmmakers, actors, actresses, and others born from 1981 to 1996, colloquially known as Millennial (shortened for Generation Y), to be nominated or win an Academy Award starting in the early 1990s. While most winners and nominees are older generations before Millennials, Anna Paquin is the first Millennial member to be nominated and win an Academy Award for her debut performance of Flora McGrath in the historical romantic film "The Piano" (1993). There are only two child actors born in early Millennial generation which rarely received such accolades in the 1990s, most likely in the supporting role categories. Most actors and actresses likely to buzz their Academy Award chances starting in the early 2000s, while writing and directing efforts starting in the early 2010s.
