Sports School of Olympic Reserve No. 6 for swimming in the city of Omsk is a children and youth sports school, the first specialized swimming school in Omsk. Founded on January 11 1967.
History.
The school was opened on January 11, 1967, based on the decision of the Omsk City Council of People's Deputies No. 6-20. The initiator of the school's creation and its first director was Vladimir Semyonovich Dobrokvashin, who is considered the founder of swimming in Omsk.
The idea of building a swimming pool arose after the demonstration of the need for sports infrastructure: children were swimming in the fountain near the Mayakovsky Cinema. After this, a public construction project began, in which residents of the city, university students, and various organizations actively participated.
In 1985, the school received the status of a specialized children and youth school of Olympic reserve based on the order of the Ministry of Education of the RSFSR and a letter from the regional department of public education.
In 1999, the merger of SDYUSHOR No. 6 and DYuSSh No. 29 took place. Simonova Valentina Ivanovna, Honored Coach of Russia, was appointed director of the combined school.
Since 2021, the director of the school has been Nikolai Ivanovich Rusanov.
Activities.
The main activity of the school is teaching children to swim and training high-level athletes.
The school trains young swimmers who achieve high results in all-Russian and international competitions. Masters of Sports of the USSR and Russia, and Masters of Sports of International Class have been trained.
Work with Athletes with Disabilities.
The sports school has worked with swimmers with disabilities. In 2000, Dmitry Ostapchuk participated in the Paralympic Games in Sydney. Dmitry Polin won a gold medal and set a world record at the 2004 Paralympic Games in Athens. At the 2006 World Championships, he again won a gold medal and set a new world record. For his achievements, Dmitry Polin received the title of Honored Master of Sports of Russia. He was trained by coaches Valentina Ivanovna Simonova and Andrei Sergeevich Franchenko.
Underwater Sports Department.
Since 2014, an underwater sports department has been opened at the S. S. Bovkun "Yunost" sports complex. The department's coaches teach fin swimming, and athletes have repeatedly become winners and prize-winners of all-Russian and international competitions. Many Masters of Sports of Russia have been trained, as well as Master of Sports of International Class Oleg Zakharov, winner of the World Championship and the World Cup final in underwater sports.
