Jean Robert Yvan Hungley (born 15 February 1957) is a Mauritian politician who has been Vice-President of Mauritius since 7 December 2024.
Early life.
He was born on 15 February 1957 in Rose Hill. He worked in Mauritius Docks.
Career.
He was elected as municipal councillor for Beau Bassin-Rose Hill in 1995 and 2001. He served as mayor of Beau Bassin-Rose Hill from 2004 to 2005. He was a candidate in the parliamentary elections of 2010 and 2019. He has been member of the Mauritian Militant Movement since 1975.
Nomination as vice president of Mauritius.
During the 2024 Mauritian presidential election on 7 December 2024, when Dharam Gokhool was elected as president of Mauritius, Hungley in the same session was elected as vice president of Mauritius.
