Selale University (Ge'ez: ሰላሌ ዩኒቨርሲቲ, also spelled Salale University) is a public higher education institution located in the town of Fiche, capital of the North Shewa Zone in Ethiopia’s Oromia Region. Established in 2016, it is part of Ethiopia's fourth-generation universities aimed at expanding access to higher education across the country.
History.
Selale University was founded in 2016 in Fiche, approximately 114 kilometers north of Addis Ababa. It was created under Ethiopia’s higher education expansion efforts, focusing on improving access, equity, and educational quality.

The university operates three campuses:
Fiche is situated between two major tributaries of the Nile River: Mogor and Jama. The surrounding North Shewa area, historically called Salale, is noted for agriculture, dairy production, and mineral wealth, which supports the university's research focus.

Selale University comprises five colleges offering over thirty undergraduate programs:
In 2021, the university graduated over 1,200 students from its five colleges.
Preparations for launching postgraduate programs began in 2020.

In 2025, Asiya Kelifa, a fourth-year Computer Science student at Selale University, was elected as a Huawei Seeds for the Future Global Ambassador.

Admission is based on the Ethiopian Higher Education Entrance Certificate Examination (EHEECE) scores, student preferences, and departmental capacities.
