Lodaya () is a passenger train service with 2 class is executive and economy class train that operated by PT Kereta Api Indonesia in the Southern of the Java that which run between (BD)–Solo Balapan (SLO), this train is an inter-city rail. The Train travel offer 2x travel (morning & night) around 447 kilometers (277 mil) in 7 hours 56 minutes. In the journey to Solo Balapan, the passenger can enjoy the beautiful of the eastern part of Parahyangan mountainous region with the New Generation Stainless Steel class. The Lodaya train was launched and renamed on 12 May 2000 that succeed by Pajajaran/Senja Mataram train on 11 March 1992 by PT Kereta Api Indonesia, because name the Lodaya are inspired by the white tiger from Sundanese. Origin. The begin name "Lodaya" comes from a white tiger (or called Harimau Lodaya, maung in Sundanese) the incarnation of Prabu Siliwangi—one of the kings who ruled the Sunda Galuh Kingdom—when facing his son, Raden Kian Santang. Now the word lodaya is used in modern Sundanese to refer to a tiger, and the word maung is used to refer to "tiger" (animals in the genus Panthera, except lions) in general. Beside this name as identity of the train name, the Lodaya also found in around the Police Department of the West Java in the West Java. History. Fajar Pajajaran and Senja Mataram (1992–2000). Initially, there was a train service called Fajar Pajajaran and Senja Mataram which began operating on 11 March 1992, serving the –Yogyakarta route. The Fajar Pajajaran train from Bandung had a morning departure time, while the Senja Mataram train from Yogyakarta had an evening departure time. On 1 September 1992, the service was extended to Solo Balapan. Lodaya train (2000-Present). On 12 May 2000, PT Kereta Api Indonesia overhauled the train service so that the Fajar Padjajaran and Senja Mataram trains were replaced by the Lodaya. The design of the Lodaya train set was made different from other trains - a blue-white design with blue on the right and left ends of the train and white in the middle, and the words "Lodaya" written on it. Even so, the train sets at that time were often exchanged. In 2003, PT Kereta Api Indonesia launched the Lodaya II train. Then, the Lodaya train operated using a stainless steel train set made by INKA starting in 2018 with premium executive and economy class services. However, During Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia, the Lodaya train had only operating status facultative from beginning Covid-19 pandemic on June 2020 until 17 September 2021. On 17 September 2021, the Lodaya train finally back operated an regular & facultative. Finally, since 2024, the Lodaya train has been using the latest generation of stainless steel train sets made by INKA; starting with the Solo Balapan– relation schedule at night and the opposite relation in the morning starting 1 May 2024. On 2 May 2024, PT Kereta Api Indonesia Operation 2 Bandung officially the Lodaya train as the first train use the new generation stainless steel that only 92 (from to Solo Balapan) and 93 (Solo Balapan to ), then following the Solo Balapan– relation schedule in the morning and the opposite relation in the evening starting 1 September 2024. This train became the first passenger train across the south of Java Island and also the first mixed class train to use the new generation set. This train set consists of four executive trains, four economy trains, one dining car, and one generator train. On 1 February 2025, following the enactment of new train travel chart 2025, the Lodaya use from Locomotive CC206 to Locomotive CC201, CC203, or CC204 for temporary of CC206.
