Vladimir Salnikov Cup () is an annual international swimming competition held in a 25-meter pool, traditionally in December in Saint Petersburg. The competition is named after the four-time Olympic champion Vladimir Salnikov. The first Vladimir Salnikov Cup tournament was held in 2007. The tournament is attended by the best swimmers of Russia and the world in accordance with the ratings of FINA and the Russian Swimming Federation. Throughout the history of the Vladimir Salnikov Cup, participants in the tournament have set hundreds of records of various levels. Organization of the Competition. The competition is organized by: The public organization "Russian Swimming Federation"; The regional physical culture and sports organization "Swimming Federation of Saint Petersburg". Assistance in the organization and holding of the competition is provided by: The Committee for Physical Culture and Sports of Saint Petersburg; St. Petersburg State Autonomous Institution; "Center for the Preparation of Sports National Teams of St. Petersburg"; Non-profit partnership "Assistance to the development of swimming "Vladimir Salnikov Cup". The direct organization of the competition is carried out by the main judging panel (GSC), approved by the Russian Swimming Federation. The purpose of the competition is to popularize and develop swimming in Russia and in the city of Saint Petersburg, to increase the level of sportsmanship, and to strengthen international sports relations. Participants and Conditions of Participation. Athletes, men older than 15 years and women older than 13 years, with a qualification of at least Master of Sports of Russia, are allowed to participate in the competition. No more than 250 athletes are allowed to participate in the competition according to the official rating of the All-Russian Swimming Federation for the period from January 1 to November 10 of the year of the competition, no more than 50 of the best athletes from St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region, no more than 50 foreign athletes at the invitation of the Organizing Committee and no more than 10 athletes at the individual invitation of the Organizing Committee. The competitions are held in the following disciplines: Freestyle: 50 m, 100 m, 200 m, 400 m, 800 m, 1500 m; Backstroke: 50 m, 100 m, 200 m; Breaststroke: 50 m, 100 m, 200 m; Butterfly: 50 m, 100 m, 200 m; Individual Medley: 100 m, 200 m; Relays: 4 × 100 m freestyle - mixed, 4 × 50 m combined - mixed. Funding of the Competition. The costs of organizing and conducting the competition are covered by the budget of Saint Petersburg. Additional financial support related to the organizational costs of preparing and holding the competition is provided by: The Russian Swimming Federation, the regional physical culture and sports organization "Swimming Federation of St. Petersburg", and the non-profit partnership "Assistance to the development of swimming "Vladimir Salnikov Cup". Expenses for sending (travel) of competition participants are provided by the sending organizations.
