Charlie Gee (born June 2002) is a British stonemason, artisan, and cultural advocate.
Early life and education.
Gee was born in the United Kingdom. He developed a deep interest in historic buildings and manual crafts from an early age, influenced by his father, Matthew Gee, who is also a stonemason.
At the age of five, Gee and his family relocated to Tuscany, Italy, for six years due to his father’s work, an experience that further shaped his appreciation for classical design and European craftsmanship.
After returning to the United Kingdom and completing his secondary education, Gee undertook formal training in stonemasonry at York Minster Cathedral, completing a prestigious four-year apprenticeship.
Career.
Gee began working in stonemasonry at the age of 15, first working with his father and then apprenticing at York Minster Cathedral. He specializes in Cathedral masonry and has contributed to the restoration of iconic structures including the Cologne Cathedral in Germany, Santa Maria del Fiore in Florence, Italy, and the Cathedral and Metropolitical Church of Saint Peter in York Minster.
Gee embraced social media platforms such as Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, and TikTok, where he shares educational and behind-the-scenes content on stonemasonry.
Gee has been featured in trade publications and media, including, ITV’s "The Princes Master Crafters."
Personal life.
Gee resides in London, England and continues to work on both historical restoration projects and private commissions.
