Shane Moynihan (born ) is an Irish Fianna Fáil politician who has been a Teachta Dála (TD) for the Dublin Mid-West constituency since the 2024 general election. Early life. Moynihan is a graduate of Trinity College Dublin, where he earned a PhD in political science. Political career. He was a member of South Dublin County Council for the Palmerstown–Fonthill area from 2019 to 2024. He was a candidate at the 2019 Dublin Mid-West by-election, caused by the departure of Fine Gael's Frances Fitzgerald to the European Parliament, in which Sinn Féin's Mark Ward won the seat.
