Primitiva Nécega Gallo (September 11, 1930November 3, 2024) widely known as Primi Nécega, was a Galician writer. She authored numerous works, many of them short stories. While her writing reflects her Galician roots, much of her work was published in Spanish.
Early life.
Nécega was born in Foz in 1930, and spent her early years there.
Career.
In 1949 Nécega moved to Ribadeo.
She began publishing articles in "Las Riberas del Eo", encouraged by friends to respond to the writings of a pseudonymous author, Juan Montemar, who criticized women. She later contributed to various publications and became a regular writer for "La Comarca del Eo".
In her early years, she wrote under different pseudonyms, some for her works in Spanish and others for those in Galician, such as "La Orquidade Roja" (the red orchid), PR, and PN.
Most of her work focused on storytelling, often drawing from her own life experiences or from popular tales, such as those inspired by Christmas traditions.
Personal life.
In 1949, Nécega settled in Ribadeo, where she got married and had two children; she was widowed at a young age. In her later years, she lived at the Ribadeo Elderly Residence.
Death.
Nécega died in Burela on November 3, 2024.
